Inside the 2025 MTV VMAs: Superfans, Surprises & Legends

The 2025 MTV VMAs at UBS Arena spotlighted not just the music but the superfans who brought it to life. Surprise appearances from Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande set the tone, while Sabrina Carpenter delivered a splashy Britney Spears tribute. Veterans like Busta Rhymes, Mariah Carey, and Ricky Martin shared the stage with rising stars Alex Warren and TikTok breakout Lola Young. The biggest shock came from Katseye, a global girl group who didn’t even perform but stole the online conversation. As Mariah Carey said while accepting the Video Vanguard Award: trends may change, but the magic of live performance never fades.
