Mariah Carey to Be Honored as 2026 MusiCares Person of the Year

The voice behind countless classics is getting the recognition she deserves, not just for her music, but for her heart. MusiCares has named five-time GRAMMY winner Mariah Carey as the 2026 Person of the Year, celebrating both her legendary career and her decades of giving back. The tribute gala goes down January 30, 2026, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, just two nights before the GRAMMYs. 🎤

Carey's philanthropic work runs deep. She's provided relief for Hurricane Katrina and COVID-19 communities, founded Camp Mariah with the Fresh Air Fund for underserved youth, and championed initiatives advancing health and education. The evening will feature performances from renowned artists, with proceeds supporting MusiCares' programs including health services, addiction recovery, and disaster relief for music professionals. From Mariah's five-octave range to her five-star compassion, this honor celebrates an icon who's been hitting the high notes in every sense. 💝🌟

Judas Priest Donates $100K to LA Fire Department

Metal legends Judas Priest put their money where their music is. Before their show at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on October 19th, the band presented a $100,000 check to the Los Angeles Fire Department as relief for those impacted by the devastating January 2025 wildfires. The band met with six firefighters to hand over the donation, showing that heavy metal has an even heavier heart. 🎸🔥

The wildfires, which included the catastrophic Palisades and Eaton fires, burned over 57,500 acres, destroyed more than 18,000 homes, and caused tens of billions in property damage. Hurricane-force winds and record drought conditions turned the blazes into one of Southern California's worst disasters. While the music community previously rallied with FireAid concerts that raised $100 million, Judas Priest's contribution adds to the ongoing recovery efforts. When it comes to giving back, these rock icons are breaking the law in all the right ways. 🤘💙

Before Queen or Ziggy Stardust existed, a young Freddie Mercury was working at a Kensington Market stall when cash-strapped David Bowie walked in wanting boots he couldn't afford.
